Can charity organizations offer hope to deprived Afghanistan children?

By Meera Takkar

Afghanistan, a strategically pivotal nation, which has been obliterated by bloodcurdling instability since 1979, has had many victims of this instability, principal among which is the Afghan child community. The Soviet war in Afghanistan, beginning in 1979, which continued through the next nine years, was succeeded by ghastly warlordism in Afghanistan, which spilled bloody fanaticism across the Afghan soil.

Barack Obama-Mitt Romney meeting to focus on streamlining federal government

Barack Obama-Mitt Romney meeting to focus on streamlining federal government

November 29, 2012
By Marion Dean

US President Barack Obama is scheduled to have lunch on Thursday with Mitt Romney at the White House’s private dining room. The luncheon meeting will be their first subsequent to Barack Obama’s emphatic reelection to the White House earlier this month after an arduous presidential campaign that pitted the Democrat Barack Obama against the ideologically divergent Republican Mitt Romney.

White House spokesman, Jay Carney, has remarked that Barack Obama had no particular agenda for his Thursday meeting with Mitt Romney. But in the Barack Obama-Mitt Romney meeting, the US President would like to converse about the Mormon Republican’s notions for streamlining the governmental services.

Regarding the streamlining of governmental services, Barack Obama has recommended unifying some functions of government connected to business. The President has requested the US Congress to grant him jurisdiction so that he can implement some executive branch reorganisation.

Jay Carney has asserted that President Barack Obama deems that Mitt Romney performed a magnificent job as chief organiser of the 2002 Boston Winter Olympics. The set of competences, displayed by Mitt Romney then, will lend itself to concepts that could make the federal government function better. Enhancement of the functioning of the federal government is something, to which the US President is committed.

President Barack Obama’s assistants, before Thanksgiving, had reportedly contacted Mitt Romney to set a date for the Barack Obama-Mitt Romney meeting. The scheduled lunch meeting on Thursday will have no press coverage.

The Mitt Romney-Barack Obama meeting on Thursday is expected to be their most substantial tête-à-tête to date.

Through the Barack Obama-Mitt Romney meeting, the US President intends to demonstrate his willingness to listen to the Republican suggestions for tax reform and to thwart the fiscal cliff.

Mitt Romney, subsequent to his presidential election defeat to Barack Obama, has been virtually nonexistent in political life. He has spent the last three weeks mostly in isolation at his familial southern Californian residence. The mere moment, in which Mitt Romney was photographed in public, was with his wife, Ann Romney, at the gym and movies. Romney was also observed at Disneyland.
