9-year-old Mexico mother’s real age questioned, girl reportedly sterilised

The 9-year-old Mexico girl, who gave birth to a baby daughter on January 27 in a Mexican hospital in Guadalajara, has reportedly been sterilised. Doubts are now being raised over the 9-year-old Mexico mother’s ‘actual’ age. The Health Secretary of the Jalisco state, where the Mexico girl procreated in the Zoquipan Hospital, has expressed suspicion that the girl could have been so young. The Health Secretary, Antonio Munoz, has remarked that the medical characteristics of the minor do not match that of a 9-year-old girl. She appears to be 15 years old, voiced Munoz.

The family of the ’9-year-old girl’ has reportedly disappeared from their poverty-stricken home with the newborn. They fled from their tiny breeze block home in a taxi some hours prior to the police and the local mayor arriving to talk to them about the 9-year-old Mexico girl’s pregnancy case, which has caused a sensation globally and in Mexico itself, where some activists have expressed their fear that the 9-year-old Mexico girl could have been sexually abused or raped by the father of her baby.

There are contradictory reports over whether the 9-year-old Mexico girl, referred to as Dafne, was sterilised with her Mom’s consent or without her consent. The Daily Mail has reported that Dafne was sterilised in the absence of her Mom’s consent. Some reports are voicing that Dafne has been left behind by her family, with the Daily Mail alleging that concerns are also being raised that the 9-year-old Mexico girl’s stepfather may be the father of her newborn. As per the Network for the Rights of Children, there were 318 mothers, aged 10, in Mexico in 2011.

Meanwhile, Tomas Coronado Olmos, the Attorney General of the Jalisco state, has expressed that the investigative personnel desire to conduct a psychological profile of the ‘9-year-old Mexico girl’. Some evidence of inconsistencies exist, which need to be investigated, the Attorney General voiced. Tomas Coronado Olmos has uttered that the birth registry of the girl has heightened suspicions regarding the girl’s age. Her parents had apparently registered her birth only in 2011.
